Job Title:  Sales Representative - Part Time

Reports to: Managing Director

Position Posting: Open until filled.

Background: Burns Family Artisan Ales is a growing production brewery in the Valverde neighborhood of Denver, Colorado. Opened in August of 2018, Burns Family Artisan Ales is comprised of industry veterans with a passion to bring new and exciting beer experiences to the national beer scene, starting here in Denver and the Front Range of Colorado. The premise of our brand is to develop beers that are elegant and complex, rewarding consumers with a celebration of brewing history, style, invention and skill, in a glass. Our beers are crafted by Master Brewer Wayne Burns and Certified Cicerone and Brewer Laura Worley. Our products are sophisticated, showcasing a depth of skill and knowledge unusual in newer breweries, as Wayne is a Siebel and Doemens Academie graduate professional brewer whose career going back 30 years. Laura is a Chef by training and has been brewing for over a decade. Between these two, our beers shine with rich tradition, innovation, and a wealth of passionate experience; finding just the right balance whether as a core traditional beer or steering into styles that push the boundaries of expectations. Burns Family Artisan Ales is a production nano-brewery and taproom, currently with 27 retail accounts plus five off-premise tap accounts, and a retail presence in Oregon, all of which is foundational to present our beer in discerning environments to gain conversions in the beer drinking public. We expect to grow our distribution footprint by 50% in the next 12 months.

Job Purpose: At Burns Family Artisan Ales, we are dedicated to creating the most unique and highest quality beers available. A Burns Family Artisan Ales Sales Rep will be charged with promoting and growing (business development) the Burns Family Artisan Ales brand among accounts throughout the Front Range & Mountains area while maintaining outstanding customer service to our existing accounts (account maintenance).

Duties and Responsibilities include the following and may be expanded upon:

·        Commit to and support the Burns Family Artisan Ales vision and become a Burns Family Artisan Ales brand ambassador

·        Develop and add to existing Sales Plan for assigned Sales territory / list of On-Premise and Off-Premise accounts

·        Assist in the creation of Quarterly sales volume projections by account / by product and accurately complete true-ups

·        Grow the Burns Family Artisan Ales account footprint in the assigned territory by creating strong partnerships and relationships with key staff members in a manner that is ethical and genuine to the brand

·        Develop and adhere to a consistent account visitation schedule - one that makes most efficient use of time and company resources

·        Staff the taproom once weekly and fill in for full-time staff on leave or other projects occasionally, to learn what current consumers enjoy.

·        Gain distribution of new products and continue the sales of existing products

·        Be prepared to quickly and expertly fulfill and anticipate the needs of existing accounts (deliveries, tap handles, troubleshooting, menu recommendations, brand integrity placement etc.)

·        Execute on Burns Family Artisan Ales’s commitment to improving accessibility of beer education by conducting account staff trainings, hand-sells and/or providing tours of our facility as needed

·        Communicate on daily basis w/ Production Team regarding orders, trends, seasonal considerations and all other sales related issues

·        Keep an up-to-date log of visited accounts, managers/beer buyers and any additional information relevant to each account

·        Collaborate with the Burns Family Artisan Ales staff team to develop and ideate new and unique ways to continuously promote and expand the Burns Family Artisan Ales brand(s)

·        Serve as eyes and ears to the marketplace: communicate opportunities, issues and market intelligence with all appropriate internal and external stakeholders via written, verbal and electronic means

·        Drive the business - strive to over-deliver against all volume and revenue goals (plans)

·        Lead representation at external (festivals, events, liquor store tastings etc.) and internal (taproom/brewery) events as necessary (even on weekends); this includes set-up, pouring, tear-down, transportation

·        Analyze sales data to identify sales opportunities and predict trends

·        Work with the Marketing team to develop Sales materials (sell sheets, presentations) necessary to effectively communicate and sell Burns Family Artisan Ales products

·        Maintain a professional image and demeanor at all times - one that is authentically consistent with the individual’s personality and the Burns Family Artisan Ales brand

 

Position Qualifications:

·        Outgoing, pleasant personality, highly organized and self motivated, with good communication skills

·        2+ years of off-premise sales experience

·        Previous beverage industry experience required

·        Reliable vehicle, valid insurance and clean driving record....NO DUIs

·        Available to work an average of 25 hours per week, weekdays and occasional weekends, both daytime and evening hours.

·        Ability to lift and/or move up to 55 pounds and occasionally maneuver 165 lb. kegs. w/ help from a dolly

·        Ability to stand for 4 hours

·        Ability to communicate and comprehend American Standard English verbally and in written form

·        Ability to process and prioritize a list of four or more directions

·        Ability to resolve conflicts within a broader guidance of company ethos and socially responsible norms, using team processes as needed

·        Ability to ask for and receive assistance and direction

·        Ability to process and work in an environment which can be loud, confusing and/or distracting

·        Ability to occasionally work in cold and hot environments

·        Ability to successfully and pleasantly work with and be civil towards other people, despite any differences.

 

Knowledge Requirements:

·        Intimate knowledge of Burns Family Artisan Ales’s history and portfolio of products

·        Strong knowledge of craft beer industry and its retail consumers

·        In-process Certified Beer Server® or BJCP certifications

·        Detailed knowledge of Denver, the Front Range and Colorado beer scenes and off-premise retailers

·        Effective in the use of spreadsheets and other communication and tracking tools

·        General understanding of the brewing process

·        Exemplary knowledge of basic beer styles

·        Familiar with Colorado laws regarding On/Off Premise sales including “pay to play”, etc.

As a member of the Burns Family Artisan Ales team, you can expect to be:

·        Compensated well and fairly: this Sales Representative position is compensated at $15/hour during the first 90-days (probationary period.) After meeting job-related goals, our Sales Representative is advanced to earn a living wage of $16.00-$22.00/hour base pay (DOE) plus sales-based commissions. Gas allowance is part of the compensation package.
